I have recently become addicted to blog stalking and delighted to find some friends from BYU have blogs for me to browse (much better than friends of friends of friends). A good friend Janssen has a blog more or less dedicated to books. As you can imagine, I am completely in love with it. Her goal this year is to read 100 books and write about at least half. I can't wait! Feeling inspired by Janssen and Anna-Lisa (see this post, if you forgot how amazing A-L is) I'm going to try.
Not 100 books, certainly, but 25. If I read 2 a month that will be 24. I bet I can throw in an extra one this summer when it's so hot, right? I used to read close to 100 books every year, but 4 years of Comparative Literature courses took their toll and at graduation I swore off reading forever (yeah, right). My reading has steadily increased over the last month to real magazine articles (not just the Top 10 lists) and I'm ready to give it a try. You'd think I was making a life-altering decision, but for the bibliophile in me, this is.
Since there are only 4 more days in January, I'd better get going. Stay tuned if you're interested in book #1 for the year, The Professor and the Madman, which was a gift to my dad. Any suggestions for the other 24 books?

No remembro how to say 11
Josh's aunt and uncle (also our landlords) are trying to learn Spanish. Every time we see them, they ask for cool words to learn. They are currently interested in pretty much nouns only, especially foods. Well, last time we saw them, they shared this little jewel with me:
The One Semester of Spanish Love Song
Apparently it's been around for a while, but was new to me. Enjoy!

This week's service project: Josh Mays
So there's this guy in our ward who is trying to save Josh's soul. I try to be nice, but it's getting really annoying. He keeps calling us and inviting us to church activities under the guise of "hanging out." It's not like we don't go to church! We don't go to ward game night, though, because I'm usually too tired after a week of work to want to go. End of story. Josh doesn't play basketball with the Elder's quorum because it falls on date night. Never mind that he's taking 18 credits, working, and taking care of pregnant me. We finally told him we'd go to game night this week so he'd quit bugging us, but it's getting really old.
What bothers me the most is that it makes Josh feel bad, like he's not doing enough for the ward or something. I have half a mind to just march right up to him and say "lay off! You're stressing out my husband! Stop pretending you want to be friends because we can tell you have no interest in either one of us...we refuse to be your service project." Besides, there are plenty of people out there that do need a good friend to go to church with. Even if we did (which we don't) he is going about it all wrong. All he does is make himself seem holier than everyone else. Yuck.

Notice: No Chewing Allowed
I put this notice as my desktop background at work the other day because someone came to my window stinking to high heaven:

I don't expect everyone to give up smoking just because I hate the smell. It would be nice, however, if they didn't save their last puff to breathe out on my face. Call me crazy, but I don't like a cloud of smoke blown at me.
I now need to find one that says "Please spit out your chew (or at least take a smaller pinch) before coming to my window. No spitting into clear water bottles allowed." I don't know if chew is making a comeback or if I'm just lucky, but two boys came to my window on separate days last week with their nasty spit bottles and with mouths too full or tobacco to talk. Yuck!

Christmas softball
The Hunt family has a new tradition (almost 3 years old): we play softball every May for dad's birthday and every Christmas. Here is Josh showing off his great pitching skills at this Christmas game:

And here is a picture of me making a funny face. It's not a profile shot, but you might be able to see my baby if you look closely at the purple lump in my midsection. Isn't he cute?
I think if you look closely you can also see my belly button which is about to pop out. One day I thought I had some lint in my belly button and turns out it was my belly button! I guess I'd never seen the inside so well before... Speaking of which, I went to the doctor today and everything looks great. I'm up to 20 lbs gained already, though, so it should be fun to see how huge I get in the next 4 months.

Check into Cash
My dad once commented that you can tell a lot about a neighborhood by how many cash advance places it has. In fact, when driving around looking at potential houses, I'm always careful to compare the number of cash advance stores to say, bookstores or drugstores. Well, Dad, you're not the only one who's noticed.
Emily introduced me (through her blog) to a funny page that uses graphs and Venn diagrams (remember those, kids?) to make observations about the world. And there, to my delight, under "Cause, effect, or both?" is a beautiful diagram to the same effect. Enjoy!
