zzZzzZzz
Josh came home from class the other day and found us sleeping. Notice the mirror image? Maybe we're related after all.

according to my cell phone...
And then there was the girl that corrected Josh's spelling of absorbency. Now, I can understand the confusion. Absorbent can be spelled with an 'a', so I'm sure absorbency can also. However, the dictionary at our house as well as the gmail and Word dictionaries agree than absorbency is the preferred spelling.
When she challenged Josh, what did she use as her proof? Her cell phone's predictive text. Yeah, like T9 is the leading expert in spelling, especially words with more than 2 syllables. Did I mention that this girl also wrote an email that said, "let me know what u got so i can change my numbers or u can change urs." I think I'll believe the dictionary.

bitten by the book worm
After watching the same 4 channels for a few days after Jonah came home from the hospital, I discovered I'd much rather read than watch Judge Judy while I feed, rock, or otherwise take care of the baby. So while I didn't read much of anything in May, I've read quite a bit in June. So far this month:
1. The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy
2. The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley
3. The Blue Sword (same)
4. The Princess Academy by Shannon Hale
With the exception of The Scarlet Pimpernel, these are children's chapter books. I thoroughly enjoyed all of them. I have taken to stalking Janssen's blog because she lists good books (many of which are children's books...right up my alley!) and wandering the library just taking anything that strikes my fancy.
On that note, I'm taking recommendations. Anyone? I'll read pretty much any genre at this point; anything is better than watching the news. Again.

Dude, where's my car?
Josh (to Chemistry lab group members): well, I've gotta go to work!
Girl: Where do you work, McDonalds?
Josh: Nope, but close; Chili's.
Girl: Oh. Tell your management not to tow people.
Josh: *laugh* Did you get towed?
Girl: Yeah.
Josh: Well, they tow people who don't eat there.
Girl: That's dumb.
Josh: ...
Girl: Besides, I wasn't even taking up a parking space.
Josh: Um...what?
Girl: I wasn't even in a parking space. I found this awesome spot on the side of the curb and there were no cars there or anything. And then I got towed. That's dumb.
Josh: You can't just park along the curb (note: this girl parked in the driveway leading to the parking lot. There are no parking spaces nor are there room for parked cars).
Girl: Why not? There was no one else there.
Josh: Uh...
This comes just a few days after an ASU student threatened to have his lawyers take Chili's to court for towing his car when he parked next to a "Do not leave the property for any reason or any amount of time or your car will be towed" sign and went to class. Awesome.

weddings and things
We went to San Diego on our honeymoon 3 years ago and tried to go to the San Diego temple. Sadly, it was closed the day we went! This picture documents our sadness:
This weekend, we went to San Diego for Anna-Lisa and Juan Carlos's wedding and were actually allowed in! How happy we were!
Not only were we thrilled to go to the temple, we were happy to be at the wedding. It was absolutely beautiful. Congratulations, guys! Don't they look happy?

We also lent them Jonah at the reception for a few laughs. We have already betrothed him to A-L & JC's first-born girl. I hope he doesn't mind!
Speaking of the little stinker, he celebrated his 1-month birthday on Father's Day. We're taking bets on how much he weighs; results coming Wednesday after his appointment.

3 weeks old
What happened this week?
Josh went back to school.
Jonah turned 3 weeks old by sleeping 4 hours last night.
Kim got sick.
Then, just as I was feeling bad for myself, I read this blog. More than anything, I love the attitude of faith and gratitude. I guess I have a lot to be grateful for. For one, I just typed this one-handed with Jonah on my lap. Then he spit up on my arm. Good times.
